Julie Hunt, affectionately known as Jungle Julie, grew up is Southern California and was Valedictorian of her high school. She studied art in college and worked as a successful artist. The famed golfer Tiger Woods was a client of Julie’s just prior to him becoming a household name. Always having a great love of nature and the outdoors Julie worked in sport fishing for several years and earned a world record for a large Yellowtail she landed off San Clemente Island. While on a trip to Tahiti Julie fell in love with Plumerias. She soon began to hybridize these lovely plants and became an authority on their growth and care.
Julie decided to change her career away from art and follow her passion for plants and the outdoors. She went back to school to study botany and ornamental horticulture. Julie first received her Certification as a California Certified Nursery Professional studying under such well known Horticulturists as Dr. John Kabashima and Gary Matsuoka.
Julie then proceeded to study for, and acquire her Arborist and Ornamental Horticulture Certifications.
Julie is often referred to as “The Plant Dr.” because she truly understands what is ailing most plants, just by looking at them or by asking just a few questions. Julie has become a highly respected authority within the green industry. She teaches or is a keynote speaker for various organizations interested in achieving a higher level of understanding green life.
Initially Julie created her own formulation of special fertilizers for her hobby plants and has now developed a complete line of garden products specially designed for Southern California’s problematic clay soil. These products are used by her clients successfully to treat their various landscape needs.
Julie has been a speaker for the Master Gardner program, Organic Gardening Groups and many other gardening organizations including Green Scene at the Fullerton Arboretum. For years she was the Garden Tour Director for famous and beautiful Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel.
Ms. Hunt has often been a consultant for the OC Register and The LA Times. She was also a key consultant for the restoration of the grounds at The Mission San Juan Capistrano.
Always an artist, Julie loves to design landscapes for her clients. Each rendering is drawn by hand with the individual client’s desires in mind. Each plant is hand-picked and planted with care. She is a perfectionist and passionate about her work.
Her motto is “Quality First Landscaping”. The clients Julie serves include everyday people to Hollywood celebrities.
